Well isn't Ilkley moor a lovely dry place? No. It's not. A short while ago my walking buddy, John Fowles, and I went on a little trek across Ilkley moor. It's potentially predictably that the walk started and ended at a pub, with another pub at the half way point and a hell of a lot of wet, muddy, boggy land in between. We had a great time, although the lack of an OS map or similar left us some what lost with only a hand drawn map in a walking guide book for company - what fools we are. We managed to add another two miles or so to our walk, but hey we were there to walk so we didn't mind! All in all the walk was very enjoyable with only a moderate amount of confusion over whether the 'paths' we were following intrepidly were paths or infact just streams as they seemed to be rather, well wet doesn't quite cover it. The walk highlighted how good John's boots were at keeping out water as his feet were bone dry - compared to mine which were soaked - although I didn't expect them to be anything else given the number of holes in them! Pictures will shortly follow although they are already available on Facebook! |
