I work as a freelance Sound Engineer and Web Designer while also studying Electronic Engineering at the University of Leeds.

GCAS Online goes online!

It has been a while in coming but the shiny new GCAS website, complete with 'joomla! content management system, was launched during the early hours of this morning.

The website is designed to enable more user interactivity, easy methods for GCAS tutors and administrators to post articles and information without having to enter the world of HTML. The site is now in place and will, with any luck, grow with the passage of time as more tutors become involved in it and post content.

Last night, between the hours of 11AM BST and 4AM GMT (so a total of six hours), the GJRB website went under the knife and emerged completely transformed! While many stylistic elements of 'GJRBv2.0' are still evident in the new 'GJRBv3.0' the true change can only be seen behind the scenes for the time being.

The website is now based on the powerful 'joomla! content management system' which enables, amongst other things, for the content to be more dynamic and for the website to be updated and added to by people that are not HTML (the language that many websites are built in) literate. 

Much like it's bigger sister the GCAS website the true difference between old and new versions will only become apparent with time as more people become involved in contributing with the project.

My current project - GCAS

I thought talking about this website being my current project would be a bit dull so instead I thought I would produce a little note about my other current project. I am in the throws of a major redevelopment for the Garforth Community Arts School, known as GCAS. The site is going to be designed around the concept of having constantly moving and updated content with a whole load of behind the scenes working resulting in a range of online services. At current a first draft design is in place and it under going some testing and refining and should hopefully be ready for release soon!
